Girls Costume Warehouse

Alright, this made me laugh. A lot.

OK, maybe it's just a chromosome thing. Anyway, thanks to Sarah for the linkage.

Sandbox Theatre: War With The Newts

The Sandbox Theatre premiers "War With the Newts" on October 27th, 2007. Click on the picture or here for more info on dates and directions.

The show comes with a good recommendation from a credible authority (none less than Minnesota Fashion Maven, Anna Lee) So for those of you who are willing to skip the H.I.M. concert on the 27th, and if you don't know about the party, you might wanna head over to watch a play in the Sandbox...

Movie Review: 30 Days of Night

Finally, a vampire movie where vampires aren't a bunch of Anne-Rice-penned-pussies sitting around drinking wine with their pinkys out. According to imdb, Sam Raimi decided to step back from directing "30 Days of Night" and only act in a producing role. After seeing Spider-Man 3 I have to say...

...good call.

I mean, I went to Spider-Man 3 to see comic book action, and got a shitload of Blubbering-Emo-Boy that was almost as bad as Batman and Robin, and that is no simple feat.

Finally, a movie where people make REALISTIC choices despite the abstract situations. They did what you or I would do under the same bizarre circumstances. Too many movies go so far over the top that it's impossible to suspend your disbelief (or your gag reflex). 30 Days of Night 'kept it real' with a simple and tight story, and that kept the horror real. Sadly, this technique is the exception for American horror films.

30 Days of Night is Really graphic, I mean chopping someones head off with a dull axe...well, it's pretty gritty, grim, dark and bloody; in other words a damn good horror film.

Marillion: Lavender Video

Taking a children's rhyme and turning it into a song called "Lavender", Marillion made a simple and moving masterpiece as part of the "Misplaced Childhood" album; arguably Marillion's best work.

I've been listening to Misplaced Childhood since 1989 and it's great to finally see some videos to go with the music I know very well. The song is timeless, but the video is laughably great. Do yourself a favor and listen to the song first without watching the video, then take a look...

Videogame Review: Manhunt

Below is a video review of the videogame Manhunt from the Escapist Magazine's Zero Punctuation column. I haven't played the game myself, but it sounds like if you're a twelve-year-old boy, and like Rob Zombie or Quentin Tarrintino films, you would probably like Manhunt. This video review by Yahtzee seems to agree. If nothing else, the video review itself is Really Funny, and Free, and Way Shorter than the game Manhunt:
